caitlin mcgauley

I first stumbled upon Caitlin McGauley’s work when she designed a valentine for Kate Spade New York.  I absolutely love her beautiful watercolor paintings that are full of bright colors! On her website you will find a link to her blog where she paints about her life…it’s so inspiring! I highly recommend you check out her work!

dave’s 23rd birthday

This past weekend was little brother’s birthday.  He turned twenty-three, which I can hardly believe!!! We celebrated with a nice family dinner of shrimp, steak, and cheese cake for dessert.  It was so nice having Dave home with us for the weekend from college and to get to spend a good bit of time with him.  Happy Birthday, Dave!

By the way, my mom has hung the same Happy Birthday banners, pictured above, around our house every year since I can remember.  It’s a birthday tradition!

sunday attire

Just a quick  peek at what a wore to church on Sunday.  Dan was sick this weekend, so my best friend from high school, Gail, and I went to church together and went out for pancakes afterwords.  It’s so nice to have some girl friend time over the weekend!

I got the glitter polka dot garland around my mirror on Etsy, which I quickly regretted when it came in the mail and I realized it would’ve been a fun craft to try at home instead.  At least now that I see how to make it I know I can make more in various colors for my new room!

a family style italian meal

This past weekend my friends Kristen and Brooke’s husbands,  Dan and Freeland, made Dan’s Grandma D’s pasta for our friends.  Brooke and Freeland hosted, and it was such a fun night! The pasta was delicious, as was all of the food, and everyone had a great time!

I brought the above spinach salad and dressing as my dish.  My mom recommended it to me and even helped me make it since it was my first time.  I had never had it before, and I really liked it!

I hope everyone had themselves a great weekend as well!

my weekend: instagram style

This weekend Dan and I enjoyed a little frozen yogurt and were nearly attacked by ducks.  My frozen yogurt had Nerds in it.  When I was little, I loved vanilla soft serve and Nerds…the more, the better.  I can’t believe how sweet those things are! I’m glad I was able to practice a little self-restraint and not dump a ton of the brightly colored dots on my yogurt as the child inside of me was pushing for, or else I would’ve regretted the too-sweet taste.  A little sprinkling was perfect.

The last two pictures I took while out jogging Sunday.  I crossed over two bridges and stopped to snap a pic over each.  It was a beautiful sunny day, so beautiful that it inspired me to jog outside for the first time in months! (Okay, if I’m being honest, it was the first time I’ve jogged anywhere in months.) I’m trying, little by little, to prepare my body for the beating it’s going to take Mondays and Wednesday in March as my new Zumba class begins.  I’m not sure I’ll ever truly be prepared.

think pink version two

/ 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 /
(from upper left to bottom right)

I just recently purchased Pixelmator, and Dan helped me to create my next Think Pink Post.  Okay, you caught me, he basically did all the work this time around, but I’m hopeful that next time I will retain everything he taught me and be able to do this on my own.  As you can see, nothing has changed from my last pink post.  I’m still infatuated with the color for spring.  In fact, I had no intention of ever even making a second “Think Pink” post, and yet here it is! What’s your favorite color for spring?

a little late, but a valentine’s party

The Friday before Valentine’s Day, our friends Bill and Christie (above) hosted an amazing Sweethearts and Sushi party.  Christie is very crafty, and she had her whole apartment decorated with the sweetest decorations she’d made.  Bill, with the aid of another friend or two, made a TON of delicious sushi for us to enjoy.  My friend from work, Kristen, and her husband Dan took all of these lovely pictures, so I get no photo cred at all here.  The evening ended up being a wonderful gathering of friends full of food, fun, and games.

bits ‘n pieces

Just bits ‘n pieces of an outfit I wore this weekend.  I have been obsessed with these Bass Loves Rachel Antonoff shoes since last summer, and I finally found them for an affordable price at www.dsw.com.  I LOVE them! My only complaint is that there is absolutely no traction whatsoever on the bottom of the shoes so you have to be careful if it’s icy out.

Today at work we had a wellness day.  It was basically an inservice day where the classes we attended were focused on our well being.  I signed up to take a zumba class and a yoga class.  Both were pretty intense workouts for a girl who doesn’t (but should) work out regularly.  It was really fun, and I’m hoping it will motivate me to sign up for a zumba class starting next month after work at my school and a yoga class held in my new neighborhood with my mom.  I guess with spring right around the corner I’m more serious about getting fit!

our valentine’s celebration

Since Dan and I were apart for Valentine’s Day, we celebrated on Friday.  When I got home from work, he surprised me with roses and all the fixens to make chocolate peanut butter milkshakes together…my favorite! They turned out delicious, by the way…even better than Coldstone Creamery, my weakness.

After I took my pre-weekend nap, we went out to dinner and a movie.  In the spirit of Valentine’s Day, we saw The Vow.  It was fun seeing a cheesy chick flick together, and that’s about the nicest thing I have to say about the film.  We had a great evening out together, and then Dan had to go back to Bradford to attend a viewing.  Thank you for everything, Dand!
